During the last two weeks, our class was split into different groups, based on our role in the project. I joined the character group, since I had already done many designs for Melody.

The design called for a front view, 3/4 view, and side view of our characters. I drew a front and side view, but in one drawing, the proportions looked wrong. I think the head should be bigger and the body shouldn’t be so muscular. That way, the character will look cuter.

When I drew this character profile, I based the head off of Chas’s model.

During a meeting, the group was trying to figure out how to present Melody’s fear of the water. I had the idea of making the waves look sharp like teeth or claws.

I also drew Melody’s face expressing different emotions based on what happens in the story.

Since we thought about implementing a 2D look, I made a short animation in Adobe After Effects experimenting with 2D water for the fountain. I have plenty of experience with After Effects, so this wasn’t too hard.

We’re going to continue to work on the project this Spring Break, and as we approach the end of the semester, we will deliver some strong work to make this the best short we can make. This project is looking more and more different than when we began, but it'll be worth it when it's complete.
