Since my previous review, I continued my work on the scenes I have been animating. I finally finished the Carried Away scene, and went to work on the Storm scene where Melody sees the storm and the scarecrows fly off her stage, which has become a raft. I started by blocking the scene out based on the live action reference I filmed for the shot. This is still a work in progress.

However, when it came to the shot where Melody first sees the storm, I needed it to be consistent with the last shot of the Carried away scene, since it would be an over-the-shoulder shot where she first sees the storm. This is a blocking playblast.

Then, when I went to save the file for Shot 3 of Carried Away as Shot 1 for the Storm scene, I noticed that the turning neck did not look right. I needed to fix it, so I went to change the rotation, not just in the neck, but also in Melody’s torso. Finally, I reached a point where the movements looked natural, and the twisting did not look weird.

However, on Friday the 25th, Angelica gave me revision notes for the scenes I was working on. In the week to come I will follow these notes and ask for feedback from my group mates, lab monitors, and Professor Brett Rutland. I will do my best to ma

When it came to textures, I finally finished texturing Angelica’s extra character cat. I covered up the seams in the UVs with manually made spots and added onto the ears, where I gave the tufts the same light purple as the underbelly and added a pink coloring to the inside of the ears.

I also started polishing up the textures on the flute, since I had textured them at 1K resolution, and when raised to 4K it revealed that there was some cleaning up to do.

For the music notes, I did animation for two shots. In one shot, I added a note floating around as Melody played her flute. For this, I animated each note at four frames per second from home, then I added the frames in between at school and changed it to two frames per second.

The other shot I did was for the portal with the music notes emerging. For this, I took the playblast of the shot, and combined it with the 2D animation I had done for the shot. To have the notes move with the camera, I used the Motion Tracking tool in Adobe After Effects. I also had to change the size of the animation in Photoshop to make it look small enough. I will continue to work on the shot in the future.

For the next two weeks, I plan to finish the animation for the Carried Away scene and the Storm scene. I will also do more animation for the music notes, and maybe even animate an extra character. Hopefully, I will even have time to work on the DAC logo. I am going to keep making everyone in my group and also my professors proud.
